A Couple of Things

I've sent this around to a few people in the hopes of getting some feedback as to what people would or would not like to see with this big year. One response was to add a sort of competition aspect to the year, so for those interested, I'll keep a running tally of submissions next to your name on the contributors page. I won't be able to post all of your submissions, but I'll keep them stored offline and will update your totals appropriately. Another suggestion was to assign target birds for folks. Some birds are going to be more difficult than others, and may require specific trips (i.e. Cassin's Sparrow, Rock Wren, etc). If you're interested in participating in target bird assignments, send me a note. I'd also like to add a reminder that this big year is open to anyone who photographs or records birds in Travis County, so please don't hesitate to email me with your submissions.

Welcome to the Travis County 2015 Collaborative Big Year. Our goal is to document, with either photographs or audio recordings, the most amount of bird species possible within the calendar year and within the Travis County boundaries. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate. Please e-mail me at natemcgowanbirds@gmail.com with your submissions and, provided the species are not already accounted for, they will be added to the galleries and checklist. I'm looking forward to seeing if we can break 300. See you all January 1st!
